About CELTA
CELTA stands for the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults. It is an internationally recognised qualification administered by Cambridge English, part of the University of Cambridge.
The CELTA certificate is globally recognised and accepted by public institutions, private ELT organisations, universities, and online teaching platforms worldwide. Many employers regard CELTA as a preferred or essential qualification for teaching English.

Course Formats & Fees
- Face-to-Face CELTA: A 4-week intensive course running Monday to Friday, held in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh.
- Online Part-Time CELTA: A 10-week course running every Tuesday and Thursday evenings, plus a half day on Saturdays, designed for working professionals.

Entry Requirements
Applicants should:
- Be at least 18 years old (20+ recommended).
- Have a strong awareness of language and advanced proficiency in both written and spoken English.
- Demonstrate the potential to develop effective teaching skills and complete assignments.
Yes. Non-native speakers may apply but must have a strong command of English equivalent to a high C1 level (Advanced), approximately an IELTS score of 7.0 or above. This ensures the ability to meet written coursework and teaching standards set by Cambridge English.
No prior teaching experience is required. CELTA is designed for both beginners and experienced teachers.
Course Formats & Quality Assurance
CELTA Cambodia offers:
- Face-to-Face CELTA: A 4-week intensive course running Monday to Friday, held in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh.
- Online Part-Time CELTA: A 10-week course, running every Tuesday and Thursday evenings, plus a half day on Saturdays.
Quality is maintained through:
- Annual approval of CELTA Assessment Centres by Cambridge English.
- Appointment of an external assessor for every course.
- A Joint Chief Assessor who monitors course quality.
- Regular meetings to share feedback and ensure high standards.
CELTA trainers are accredited professionals appointed by Cambridge English. They have extensive teaching experience and CELTA Trainer qualifications.
Course Requirements & Application
Applicants need to submit:

Yes. It is recommended to apply at least 6 weeks before the course start date to allow processing time.
Yes — for online courses you need a laptop or desktop computer with:
- Zoom installed
- A working camera and microphone
- Reliable internet (recommended: 5 Mbps, minimum: 600 kbps)
- Tablets and smartphones are not suitable for all teaching practice activities.
Course Content & Assessment
The course includes:
- Continuous assessment
- 120 hours of guided learning
- Teaching practice with real students
- Observations of experienced teachers
- Assignments and lesson planning
There is no final exam. Assessment is continuous and includes teaching practice, written assignments, lesson planning, and feedback sessions.
Certification & Career Support
Upon completion, you will receive a provisional certificate from the main course tutor. The official CELTA certificate from Cambridge English will be sent from the UK and normally takes about 4 to 5 weeks to arrive in Cambodia. This certificate is recognized globally and qualifies you to teach English anywhere in the world.
CELTA Cambodia provides optional job placement support upon request, including CV feedback and mock interviews. These services are offered by our experienced trainers to help graduates prepare for positions locally and internationally.

No — CELTA equips graduates with the skills to teach English immediately after the course, regardless of prior teaching experience.
While CELTA does not guarantee employment, we provide resources, guidance, and references to help graduates secure teaching roles worldwide.
CELTA Cambodia does not provide accommodation. However, we can assist in finding suitable housing in Phnom Penh or Siem Reap.
